Mi Casa Es Tu Casa® in the Community

Updated: Nov 8, 2021

At Mi Casa Es Tu Casa®, we foster community among our families through our Spanish immersion music classes. We love being a space where parents and children can gather and connect, become friends, and plan playdates.

We also care deeply about the broader Austin community and we are grateful for the ways we've been able to stay involved this year.

We're especially honored that the organizations below align with our mission of educating and empowering parents with tools for mindful parenting that help them live their best family life.

Coming Up: Saturday November 13th

Giving a Music Class at the Austin Central Public Library

We're thrilled to be in Austin Public Library's beautiful Central library Saturday, November 13th, from 10am to 11:30am.

This is our first music class out in the community since the pandemic began. We can't believe it's been 2 years!

We'll be supporting Mi Casa Es Tu Casa® mama, Larissa Bardon Lozada at the official launch of her first children's book, Tetica Con Amor.

In the author's words, Tetica Con Amor, "...tells our birth story, and how we can navigate all the unmet expectations, fears and pain, with healing and magical words, compassion and creativity. It’s the story of how we can turn an unpleasant experience into art."

Bring your friends and family for the bilingual book reading by the author, and a lively music class for parents with children 0-5 years old with Mi Casa Es Tu Casa®! (Please bring a mask!).

Donating Space to Partners in Parenting (PIP)

Partners in Parenting (PIP) touches on many of the core values we follow at Mi Casa Es Tu Casa®: supporting parents of young children so they have the tools and community to raise a healthy family.

That's why we're so glad to host PIP's first return to in-person parenting groups since the pandemic. We've partnered with them in this way before, and are glad to have them back.

PIP is following Covid safety measures (masking, temperature checks, sanitizing, and running a HEPA filter) AND continues to offer virtual groups as well.

To sign up for a PIP group either at Mi Casa Es Tu Casa® or online, visit their website.

Partnering with Thinkery on Preventative Covid Testing

We love our city's children's museum, Thinkery. Before the pandemic, we often brought our Spanish immersion music classes to their innovative space to sing and dance.

This year, after bringing weekly Covid tests to Mi Casa Es Tu Casa® families and staff, we were excited to partner with Thinkery as well.

Thinkery saw the benefit of offering preventative Covid testing to their staff and to the families in their new pre-school (Little Thinkers), and we are grateful to play a role in facilitating testing through the lab we've been partnering with to make it happen.

Like Mi Casa Es Tu Casa®, Thinkery recognizes that families and children need our programs now more than ever to continue learning and playing.

And it's our responsibility to offer the safest environment possible to foster that curiosity and growth.

Supporting our AISD Schools: Harris Elementary

If you drive by Harris Elementary in Northeast Austin, you'll see a beautiful banner from Mi Casa Es Tu Casa® proudly sponsoring the school's PTA.

Harris is a Title One school where 90% of the families are economically disadvantaged. It's also a school with robust Dual Language programming where the majority of students are English Language Learners.

We know that babies and toddlers that begin their bilingual journey with Spanish immersion music classes at Mi Casa Es Tu Casa® will go on to be successful in any bilingual school settings!

We're proud to play a role in sponsoring community and enrichment initiatives by the Harris PTA. Go Bulldogs!

With love and gratitude,

The Mi Casa Es Tu Casa® Family
